Age Related Expectations

What does 'Age Related Expectation' mean?

Age related expectation is the standard each child should achieve for their year group (years 1-6). These expectations are drawn from the programmes of study as set out in the National Curriculum. These are end of year expectations, and therefore, it should not be expected that children will have met all of the statements before then.

Set out below are the age related expectations for each year group for the core subjects of English, maths and science.

At the foot of the page are two videos explaining the arrangements for end of key stage assessments 'Sats' and guidance on preparing your child for these tests.
