What a fantastic end to the Spring term. The children sang beautifully and it was so lovely to hear the children read the Easter story and proudly present their handwritten poems. We are very proud of them all. Thank you to Mrs Broomhead, Mrs Giblin and Reverend Buckman, who put together a wonderful service for all members of our community to enjoy. Everyone at Corby Glen CP School wish you a restful break, and we can’t wait to see you all back again on Tuesday 19th April.

  • The Great Fire of London

    Tue 29 Mar 2022

Robin class worked with Corby Glen fire service to re-enact 'The Great Fire of London'. They have spent the term exploring this historical topic and finding out more about features of contrasting cities, towns and villages. The children in DT designed and created their period houses looking at key features and structures  to recreate the buildings in London during that period. It was great working with the local fire brigade finding out more about fire safety.

Red Nose Day is an fundraising event run by the charity Comic Relief, to raise money for people in the UK and around the world, to tackle the most pressing issues of the moment.

The British charity Comic Relief was founded in 1985 to raise money to help those affected by famine in Ethiopia in the wake of the Band Aid single and Live Aid concert. • Partake Theatre group

    Tue 15 Mar 2022

On 15th March, Brambling  were visited by Partake History for an immersive day learning all about Ancient Egypt. They began by using their 5 senses to explore a range of spices the Ancient Egyptians would have used, and had to deduce whether they would have been for eating, perfume or in the mummification process. They then moved on exploring the hierarchical system of the Ancient Egyptians, from Pharaoh to slaves and everyone in between. This was followed by delving deep into mummification. The children were able to handle a range of artefacts; including statues, amulets and Canopic jars, that would all have been used in the mummification process. We then learnt how to tell the difference between royalty and the unskilled workers as one lucky pupil was fully made up as an Egyptian princess. During the afternoon, the children were full dressed up to take part in a dramatic re-enactment of an Egyptian funeral ceremony, from death and procession, to mummification and burial. It was a terrific day and the children were buzzing with ideas and questions to take their learning even deeper in the future.

In Robin class we retold the great Fire of London story- acting out how the fire spread, the decisions made by King Charles and how team work and the change in weather saved the city from complete destruction
