The children, head teacher, staff and governors of Corby Glen Community Primary School are seeking to appoint a 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join our teaching team.  We work hard to support our children with Educational Healthcare Plans and this post is to support a child in Y3 with Autistic Spectrum Disorder and ADHD.

We are looking for someone who is willing and able to develop a strong understanding of the child’s needs and how to support them, working in partnership with his existing Teaching Assistant (10 hours per week), the class teacher, SENCO and the child’s family. The child has an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) in place, and the successful candidate will support the child’s learning as well as the personal and emotional development of the child during their time at school.

This post is temporary until the child leaves school or Educational Healthcare Plan funding ceases.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Can expertly support the child’s development and learning – educationally, emotionally, socially and physically
  • Can encourage and support the child to self-regulate and become increasingly independent
  • Can promote the child’s self-esteem and confidence
  • Can assist with the planning and preparation of activities and implement provision plans including programmes from outside agencies
  • Enjoys working as part of a team and is able to use their own initiative
  • Has a positive attitude
  • Has experience of working with and interacting with children with special educational needs and ASD and ADHD in particular
  • Is committed to be involved in the wider life of our village school

We can offer you:

  • A positive, caring, family ethos in a lovely village environment
  • Well behaved and enthusiastic children
  • A supportive, friendly school community who are ambitious for the future development of the school
  • A commitment to your training and future development to enable you to be excellent in your role

This proposed hours of this post would be from 11.05 am – 3.05pm Monday – Friday with a break at lunchtime, although there can be some flexibility to secure the right candidate. Candidates may be also interested in the additional current vacancy of Midday Supervisory Assistant at the school.

If you feel you have the right skills for this post, we would love to hear from you. As we are unable to welcome you to visit the school at the moment, further questions regarding the post can be raised with the Headteacher through emailing enquiries@corbyglen.lincs.sch.uk.
