  • Greenfinch Stibbington trip 2022

    Tue 22 Feb 2022

Greenfinch class had a fantastic day at Stibbington Centre yesterday, where they learned about the life of children evacuated from London in the 1940s. They used role play to experience the impact of the Second World War on home life in the countryside, school lessons and play. They discussed how this would have felt and the consequences of being separated from their family and friends.

  • Corby Glen Community Speed Watch

    Sun 20 Feb 2022

    Corby Glen Community Speed Watch

Corby Glen Community Speed Watch are looking to recruit more volunteers. Our aim is to raise awareness of those driving through the village that we care about the safety of our community and wish for those driving to observe the speed limit while on the A151 -a road that many children in the community cross to get to and from school and the secondary school bus. While those caught are not fined, (they do receive warning letters and multiple offenses are escalated) there is a lot of evidence that it does raise awareness and have an overall positive effect.  If you, or anyone you know, can spare an hour or two a month and would like to support this cause, please contact Tracey Lamming cgpc.lamming@corbyglen.com or whats app Katy Andrew 07989851566

All that it takes is a simple two hour online training session. And all speed watches involve three people.

The more volunteers we have the more we can spread the load and catch more people. And with the new developments being built, that road will only be getting busier!

  • Safer Internet Day

    Tue 08 Feb 2022

    Safer Internet Day 2022

Goldcrest followed The Adventures of Smartie the penguin, discussing what they thought Smartie should do if he came across upsetting images, unreliable information, and a message from a stranger whilst using the internet. The children had lots of great ideas but ultimately decided to always tell a safe adult and ask for their help. Brambling and Greenfinch class collaborated on work for Safer Internet Day. Their work was all about raising the profile of safe and respectful behaviour online. They also explored the concept of digital footprint, how their information was used and shared online as well as what they were agreeing to when signing up to different games and sites.

  • Swimming Gala 2022

    Thu 03 Feb 2022

Wow! We were blown away by our swimming team today. We took 20 children to participate in the swimming gala and we could not be prouder.

The children challenged themselves out of their comfort zone and it was evident they demonstrated excellent teamwork and encouragement.

We are incredibly proud of each of the children who represented our school and enjoyed celebrating our trophy.

  • Big Garden birdwatch

    Sun 30 Jan 2022

William went to Rutland water nature reserve to do some bird watching. It’s one of his favourite places as he loves going to see the ospreys when they are back. He saw blue tits great tits house sparrows blackbirds all on the rspb bird watch list but also saw mallards wigieon and herons and swans.
We did the bird watch at home too but our garden isn’t huge so just house sparrows and pigeons.
William was in his element this weekend as he loves birds.

  • Holocaust Memorial Day

    Thu 27 Jan 2022

    Holocaust Memorial Day Trust (hmd.org.uk)

Many schools and communities took part in the Holocaust Memorial Day on the 27th January 2022.

National Holocaust Day, or Holocaust Memorial Day, remembers the victims of the Holocaust during the Second World War.

6 million Jewish people were killed by the Nazis in the Holocaust during the Second World War.

Holocaust Memorial Day remembers everyone who lost their lives under the Nazi rule , including millions of people killed in genocides in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur.

The theme of this year's Holocaust Memorial Day is "One Day," which encourages people to pick one day in history on which an act of genocide was committed and learn about that day.

The Holocaust Memorial Day Trust explained that they mark the day with hope for a future with no genocide. The trust said: "We learn more about the past, we empathise with others today, and we take action for a better future."

Our older children will be finding out more about this memorial day through some class work and in an assembly.
